Who are Invest Lake District?
We are a Lake District Foundation venture. We provide specialist, tailored support and advice to organisations or individuals with £10,000 or more to give to projects that will positively impact the Lake District and Cumbria’s spectacular landscape, wildlife, and cultural heritage.
Is my funding tax deductible?
Your business can claim tax relief on monetary donations to charity under corporate Gift Aid. To give through Gift Aid, your company donates to charity and deducts that amount from its total profits before calculating corporation tax. Consequently, your business receives corporation tax relief on the full donation.
How do you monitor and oversee projects?
All projects in our portfolio undergo a rigorous selection process. Our Project Board evaluates each project using criteria that include reputation and the ability to deliver evidence-based solutions to priority issues. Once selected, projects are continuously monitored against impact targets. Our financial policies and procedures ensure projects are delivered efficiently and transparently.
Do you offer carbon credits, tokens or offsetting?
We offer investment opportunities in projects that sequester carbon. By working with delivery partners with specialist local knowledge and directly within communities, we are able to target investment where it will have most impact. Talk to us about carbon saving calculations and reporting.
Do you accept investments from outside of the UK?
Yes! We’d love to talk to overseas investors who are interested in our magnificent Lake District.
Do you accept project pitches?
We welcome project proposals at any time. Please contact us, and we will collaborate with you before presenting your project to the Project Board, which meets quarterly. If there is an urgent need for funding, we may call an extraordinary meeting.
What’s the process for investing?
Contact us initially. We will listen to your investment priorities and match you with projects that align with your goals. We will create a bespoke investment package with you and the delivery partner. Once terms are agreed upon, we will draft an investment contract. Funds will be paid to the Lake District Foundation, which will then transfer them to delivery partners at the project launch.

How will I know when my investment is transferred to a project?
We will notify you when funds are transferred, and projects are launched.
Can I visit the project I fund?
All of our projects are local, tangible and accessible. We encourage investors to get involved and where possible visit project sites, although due to the nature of the work, there may be limitations. We will work closely with you to find the best way to get involved and meet your investment goals
