Project Description

A Place of Welcome is a transformative initiative that aims to open up a world of possibilities and foster a love for nature among underrepresented groups, including children and young people living within easy reach of the Lake District who currently do not access the park.

This initiative seeks to cultivate a deep connection to nature, shaping the citizens and communities of tomorrow and educating young people about environmental stewardship.

Through trips to the Lake District National Park and team-building activities, A Place of Welcome will help communities value and cherish nature, ensuring a lasting appreciation and commitment to preserving our natural environment.

Why is it needed?

The Lake District should be for everyone. We know that some groups are under-represented and do not feel they belong or struggle to access the National Park.

A Place of Welcome will remove these barriers and instil a love of the outdoors and awareness of the possibilities in our magnificent Lake District.
